The Made in Italy Internationalisation Forum - Smart Factory & Smart People 4.0.
“it's a matter of survival, a decision our company has already made”
“EMBRACING THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION CONSISTS IN CHANGING ONE'S APPROACH AND MINDSET IN FAVOUR OF FLEXIBILITY AND THE CAPACITY FOR RAPID CHANGE” SAYS WALTER CAMARDA, CEO OF CASTALDI LIGHTING.
IN FINANCE, THE CASE OF PRIVATE EQUITY PARTNERS
16 December was the occasion for FIMI - The Made in Italy Internationalisation Forum - this year at its fifth edition.
The observatory, which is held by SDA Bocconi, focussed on manufacturing, from small machine shops to new technologies, and analysed
the “Industry 4.0” phenomenon as experienced by the major Italian companies in the furnishing and decoration sectors.
As the CEO of Castaldi Lighting, from Cassano Magnago (Varese), says, implementing Factory 4.0 is more a matter of survival than profitability: "All those who have not kept up with the times are simply out of the market or have had to face significant resizing. In the early days, using leds resulted in greater margins, but these have been diminishing ever since; today, clients are habituated to leds and see no particular added value in their use, quite apart from the fact that the majors, like Samsung, LG and Panasonic, are now active in the market, which is consequently much more competitive."
In this challenging marketplace, Castaldi Lighting has proved able to defend its position by implementing the Factory 4.0 philosophy,
as demonstrated by the fact that it has acquired the largest contract in the world of lighting solutions - the contract for the expansion
of Abu Dhabi international airport, with a budget of 22 million euro for lighting alone.
